There is a large picture consisting of many small ones. The eye takes in the whole and then wanders from one detail to the next. Stronger, more colourful surfaces attract more attention than delicately painted outlines. The eye is looking for a track, for a sequence in which to observe the pictures. They are hung very closely to one another on three walls of a room in Castle Moyland. The fourth free space is the floor. There are 64 drawers taken from discarded chests of drawers from different times. These boxes have been equipped with one string each and with a motor and arranged as a matrix they play sounds at different pitches and in individual rhythmic arrangements.
Like the eye scanning the surface of a picture, the ear can also find its own way. The tones are moving back and forth on the acoustic background. Sounds are filling the background and then ebb away again. Blocks of boxes are aligning into groups. Soloists are adding their individual and unmistakable patterns.
