The piece "Stunde der Weissglut / Hour of White Heat" deals with Heiner Müller's text "Leben Gundlings Friedrich von Preussen Lessings Schlaf Traum Schrei".
Together with a small group of international artists, I was invited in 2006 by the International Heiner Müller Gesellschaft to participate in a show in Berlin-Lichtenberg as part of the "Heiner Müller Werkstatt". For the project I created a multi level project which included a large scale audio-video interactive installation (Greuelmärchen / Atrocity Tale), a performance (Roter Schnee / Red Snow) and a multi-channel audio performance (Schwarzes Licht / Black Light).
From the windows of the flat in 9, Erich Kurz-Strasse one can see the zoo. Heiner Müller had the same view when he was living on the uppermost floor of the same house, in a six-room flat, comparable to the one I have chosen for my work. Greuelmärchen/Atrocity Tale is an electric field, similar to the one he represented on one of his manuscripts. A place activated by history, by people. A station, a receiver, an apparatus, creating oscillations, discharges, lightings, sheet lightnings, shadows, breakdowns. Malfunctions between inside and outside. An alchemical place, where materials are changing.
Each room is tied to a sentence from Heiner Müller´s text, is inhabited by sounds, images, lights and scarce objects. Reactions are created by sensors and interactive systems. A floating state, creating hallucinations, where more times meet, a biographical as well as an autobiographical place …
