Artist talk: Gue SCHMIDT with Christoph LISSY
Two meditations on viola da gamba solo played by Karl Wilhelm KRBAVAC

A sound installation, consisting of an amplifier system and a specially placed loudspeaker system, will also make the creative process spatially-conceptually-linguistically audible.
On the work (excerpt):
In 1996 I had begun a large iron sculpture too quickly and impatiently. I kept on working in spite of the mistakes which had arisen at the beginning and which I had noticed, and then I had to realize that this figure was developing in an absolutely wrong direction.
That meant that both formal and compositional flaws had crept into the work, and they could only be corrected if one approached the matter like a mathematical problem, by counting back until the flaws are found and set right.
Similarly, for the sculptural process, this means returning to each problem in this sculpture in order to build it anew.
(Thus in this exhibition I am also returning to temporally possibly occurring compositional mistakes, and build these up again, corrected and in a new constellation.)
