The focus of my work is the human being! Among philosophers, it is questions like "Does the 'I' become a plaything of circumstances?" by Michel de Montagne or "Who am I? And if so, how many?" by Richard David Precht that fascinate me. By exploring these questions, my aim is to focus on the complexity of a person. From this spontaneous gesture, I developed the first figurative outline drawings, which I abstracted using various materials. They now only vaguely resemble human body forms. They became more like ciphers or signs of a language of their own, with which I continued to experiment and which I again confronted with realistic figures. (Renate FRERICH) |

Color and light are among the most important catalysts for Sybille Hassinger's pictorial creation. Her works show a subtle interplay of opaque and lucid painting, which sets its pictorial symbols with color and form, with color and line, with form and anti-form. Her works fascinate with their virtuoso play of perspective. As viewers, we experience a highly concentrated interplay that, when viewed for a longer period of time, allows the finely and delicately laid out abstract image motifs to appear to step back and forth, thus imagining a space in the two-dimensionality of the image medium that presents us with a depth that is difficult to fix.
