Art is the highest form of caring for mankind. Anyone who was convinced by mankind of not caring for it does not care for anything anymore. The question is not: What does art do in lousy times? Every art takes place in lousy times. The question is: What does art do in times of despair? [P.Hacks] |

In times of war peace is a barely imaginable asset. For those people who are victims of war, in the middle of havoc and destruction or fleeing from barbarism, peace is gradually disappearing into a distant utopia. For those who take part in war or pursue it with their weapons and armed forces from a safe distance, peace turns into the propaganda of their legitimacy. They fare war in the name of peace, of democracy and justice so as not to speak of resources and strategic options. For the former peace has degenerated into a Fata Morgana, for the latter into a lie. Installation with the use of a photography by Anas al-Shareef, Dschabalija, 11.10.2023 |

On the lecture by Judith LEITNER, FRAMINGS OF THE CONFLICT
From here in Vienna we observe the conflict in Israel/ Palestine from afar. Pictures of war, maps, satellite and drone pictures accompany the war events often from high flight altitudes and from different perspectives and with different grades of concernedness depending on affiliation and situation. The lecture shows a small and personal choice of observations and tries to look behind these pictures. Judith LEITNER, born 1981 in Vienna, in 1997 a stay in Israel for several months, architectural studies at the TU Vienna, in 2006 participation in a reconstruction project by ICAHD (Israeli Committee against House Demolitions) in Anata/Westbank, thesis on the topic Building in conflict about construction and preservation projects in the Palestinian territories financed by Austria. |
