"Die blaue Blume ist ein zentrales Symbol der Romantik. Sie steht für Sehnsucht und Liebe und für das metaphysische Streben nach dem Unendlichen", schreibt Wikipedia. "Blue" läßt sich auch mit traurig, melancholisch übersetzen. Blumen, Schmetterlinge, Käfer, Insekten und ähnliches, einst lebendiges, sind Material meiner Arbeiten,... (Zur Arbeit: Blue flowers and black beauties, Christiane SPATT, Wien 2012) Die ideale Umsetzung von der Idee zur Gestalt habe ich in der Skulptur und im Objekt gefunden, in der Dreidimensionalität also. Ich bevorzuge mit Marzipan zu arbeiten, ein wunderbar geschmeidiges Material. Die Zusammensetzung lässt immer süße Dinge erhoffen - diese Erwartungen erfülle ich nicht. "The blue flower is the central symbol of romanticism. It represents longing and love and the metaphysical striving for the infinite." says Wikipedia. "Blue" can also mean sad, melancholic. Flowers, butterflies, beetles, insects and other material that was once animated are the substance of my works. (On the work Blue flowers and black beauties, Christiane SPATT, Vienna 2012) I have found the ideal transformation of an idea into a form in sculpture and objects, that is to say in three-dimensionality. I prefer working with marzipan, which is a wonderfully supple material. Its composition always gives hope of sweet things - I do not fulfil these expectations. My work is at the same time my dream and my nightmare. (Helga PETRAU-HEINZEL, Vienna 2012)
